| Frank Coggins Trail |
This was one of the first trails that we hiked, a long time ago. I think it was 1999 when we 1st hiked this easy, and rather bland trail. Back then, we were 1st discovering the trails of upstate South Carolina, and that is exactly what this trail is for. There are some other, more adventurous trails that connect to this trail, but for the most part, this trail is only traveled by the novice hikers.
A couple of the most scenic trails in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area connect to this trail. If you are a more advanced hiker looking for some scenic views and waterfalls, you might think of starting with the Frank Coggins trail and continuing to Coldspring Branch or Rim of the Gap.
The trail is an out and back trail with a short loop at the end. There is not a whole lot to see on this trail, except for one small cave on the loop. If you are just beginning to hike, and trying to get used to the outdoors, this trail will be just right for you! After hiking it once or twice, you'll quickly graduate to other trails in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area.
