| RAVEN CLIFF FALLS HIKING TRAIL |

Raven Cliff Falls trail is one of the most popular and heavily traveled trails in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness area. There is simply one reason for that, and that is the Raven Cliff water fall. This is one of the most scenic waterfalls in all of South Carolina. We've hiked this trail more times than we can count. We've never had a bad time here, but how many times can you look at the same waterfall?? It's been a while since we've been back, but I am sure we will return someday. |
The trail that leads to the waterfall is moderately easy, with only 1 real climb in each direction. The last 1/4 mile to the falls is steep downhill and you will probably take a few extra minutes at the overlook thinking about your climb back up. The extra time won't be wasted as you stand at the overlook and watch the waterfall. |

Once you've hiked to the waterfall overlook, you might want to try an alternate hike that takes you to a suspension bridge above the waterfall. Instead of turning left at the "T" intersection at 1.4 miles, turn right. You will continue on this trail for about a mile until you see a left turn onto the Naturaland Trust trail. This trail will lead you steeply down to the river that flows over the Raven Cliff waterfall. This is a great alternate to the overlook trail, although it is a little more strenuous. This trail can be enjoyed by anyone. If you're not used to hiking, you really should be careful and bring water with you. And don't forget your camera because the waterfall always takes good pictures! To see our pictures, follow this link. |
