Even though this trail is at the base of Caesar Head, and the rugged area of the Caesars Head State Park, this trail is relatively easy and flat. For 95% of the hike, the trail follows an old, gravel roadbed, and is easy to follow. The trail is marked with red blazes, and it could be marked a little bit better, but if you pay attention, you shouldn't get lost.

The destination of this hike, Moonshine Falls, was once the site of an illegal moonshine still, and evidence of this activity still exists. At a large rock overhang next to the falls, several metal drums that were once used for this purpose lay rusting in ruins. The fall itself is about 40 feet high, and spills over a rock cliff into a large pool of water below.

Overall, this is a easy hike through an open and beautiful forest with the mountains in the background. If you are looking for a break from the strenuous mountains, this is a great option. This would also be a great hike for a beginner hiker, or somewhere to take someone new to hiking in the mountains.
